Mary Nurminen is currently a full-time Doctoral Researcher at the University of Tampere, working on her doctoral thesis which focuses on non-professional, non-translator users of machine translation. She will eventually return to her regular job of teaching translation, writing and interpreting at that same university. Before joining academia in 2013, Mary spent 13 years at Nokia and 5 at Lionbridge. She worked in technical communications and localization as (in this order) practitioner, manager, solution architect and consultant.

Mary Nurminen on väitöskirjatutkija Tampereen yliopistossa. Väitöstutkimuksessaan hän tarkastelee konekäännösten maallikkokäyttäjiä. Mary on parhaillaan tutkimusvapaalla yliopisto-opettajan tehtävästä; tehtävässään hän opettaa kääntämistä, kirjoittamista ja tulkkausta tuleville kääntäjille, tulkeille ja muille kieliasiantuntijoille. Ennen yliopistouraa Mary työskenteli 13 vuotta Nokiassa ja 5 vuotta Lionbridgessa teknisen viestinnän ja lokalisoinnin parissa.
